Absolutely. Every engineer at Caldwell who works on gas appliances is fully Gas Safe registered. Our company registration number is 547832. You can verify this at any time on the official Gas Safe Register website. It is illegal for an unregistered engineer to carry out gas work in the UK — please never use anyone who can't show you their card.
We can do either. Our vans carry a comprehensive stock of common parts, and for most repairs we won't need to wait on an order. For larger installations (bathrooms, boilers) we'll source everything for you at trade price, or fit items you've already purchased — your choice. We'll always tell you the cost of parts upfront.
All labour is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion. If something we've fitted or repaired develops a fault related to our workmanship, we'll return and fix it at no charge. Manufacturer warranties apply separately to any parts or appliances supplied.
A banging or kettling noise from your boiler is most commonly caused by limescale build-up on the heat exchanger (common in hard water areas like Bristol), or low water pressure. It can also indicate a failing pump or a trapped air pocket. We'd recommend getting it looked at sooner rather than later — left untreated it can cause more expensive damage. A power flush often resolves the issue completely.
Yes, we work in rented properties regularly. For emergency repairs (burst pipes, leaks, loss of heating) you are generally entitled to have these fixed promptly without waiting for landlord authorisation. For non-emergency work or installations, it's wise to get your landlord's written approval first. We're happy to invoice landlords or letting agents directly if you arrange this in advance.
